| Initial Concept | The Blue Hills Trailside Museum is the interpretive center for the 7,000-acre Blue Hills Reservation, the largest park in metropolitan Boston. In 2008, Pressley Associates, in conjunction with Schwartz/Silver Architects, completed a Master Plan for the outdated buildings and site that addresses a series of complex condition, circulation, environmental, nature education, and public use issues.

| Lasting Impact | The Master Plan provided the Dept. of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and the Massachusetts Audubon Society (MAS) with a ten-year vision, resulting in readily-achievable goals for a new nature education center and up-to-date interpretive exhibits celebrating the ecology, geology, cultural resources, and habitats of the Blue Hills. The Master Plan will assist the DCR and MAS with advocacy and fundraising so they are well-positioned to move forward quickly with phased improvements. In 2009, the BSLA honored the Trailside Master Plan with a Merit Award in Landscape Analysis and Planning.
