| The Pressley team was chosen to formulate a strategy addressing the park’s significant features and provided a vision for its future recovery through a comprehensive planning and design process.
| The 37-acre Point State Park, originally designed by Ralph Griswold and Charles M. Stotz, was constructed between 1954 and 1974 to preserve the Point’s historic role in America’s westward expansion, including the battles of the French and Indian War. Located at the confluence of three rivers, Point State Park is a designated National Historic Landmark in association with the French Fort Duquesne (1754) and the English Fort Pitt (1784). The location presents opportunities for increased connections to contiguous open spaces and Pittsburgh’s urban center. The Master Plan incorp- orates an extensive archeological inventory and interpretive themes to guide the park’s future evolution and protect its historic integrity while meeting current user needs with multi-use paths and outdoor arenas. | Allegheny Conference on
