| Initial Concept | West Podium Park is an elevated green space along a road that bridges the space between a hotel and an office building. The design creates an artful sustainable rooftop landscape that functions as a soothing green space in the new evolving Seaport District of South Boston.

| Lasting Impact | The waterfront environment influenced the landscape and the architecture of the space. Stainless steel, pre-cast concrete pavers, and mahogany furniture all work well in the seaside location. The covered walk surrounding three sides of the park abuts buildings, which incorporate green Sedum roofs. The central feature of the park is a campanile/clock tower, which anchors the stair that descends to the water below. This conveyance hosts a rippling metal dragon sculpture. The owner's mandate that the space be more about garden than architecture is realized in the verdant lushness of the park, even in winter. Plants were chosen not only for their ability to survive, but also to evoke various ecological microclimates. The canopy, ground plane, and under story plantings create a veritable woven tapestry of plants.
