| The reconstruction of Huntington Avenue, named the "Avenue of the Arts" by Boston's Mayor Menino, encompassed a comprehensive improvements program that has revitalized one of the city's most important urban corridors. The project focused on a 1 1/4 mile stretch along Huntington Avenue from Massachusetts Avenue to Brigham Circle, which is home to many prominent institutions and cultural centers.
|Working with city agencies such as the DPW, BRA, and the MBTA, along with an institutional task force and citizen groups, Pressley Associates developed an extensive reconstruction plan that provided aesthetic improvements such as street trees, lighting, planting, and decorative paving. The new design also addresses vehicular and pedestrian traffic management, including road realignment, signalization, and parking. | Boston Public Works Department,Design Consultants, Inc.
