| Columbus Center will be built on three air rights parcels located over I-90 and Conrail, Amtrak and MBTA tracks, as well as land used as surface parking lots. The sites known as parcels 16, 17, & 18 will be leased from the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority. Our assignment is to create a new pedestrian friendly environment and facilitate connections between the South End, Bay Village, and Back Bay historic neighborhoods as well as to existing transportation services.
| Columbus Center Associates is proposing a mixed-use development comprised of high-end residential, retail, hotel and parking facilities. The landscape and urban streetscape reflect the character of the surrounding areas by incorporating brick sidewalks, period lighting, and residential front gardens. Two parks connecting the South End with the Boston Common to the north provide valuable open space and recreational opportunities. Sidewalk cafés and colorful plantings enliven once barren sidewalks, while fountains and seating provide relief from the hectic pace in the nearby business district. | Columbus Center Associates CBT Architects
