Initial Concept | The new cancer care facility is integrated into the historic context of the existing buildings and surroundings. Newly created green space provides a well-organized institutional campus that minimizes the impact of vehicular circulation on the Medical Center and the South End community.
Lasting Impact | The Boston Medical Center (BMC) is a private, not-for-profit academic medical center located in Boston’s historic South End. By providing accessible health services, and as the primary teaching affiliate for the Boston University School of Medicine, the BMC is also the largest safety net hospital in New England. On axis with Worcester Square, the Moakley Medical Services Building is the terminus for the visual connection between the historic BCD and FGH buildings on the Medical Center campus and approximately 1.5 acres of the historic Worcester Square. Pressley Associates also maintained the important connection between the School of Medicine and the main campus by creating an east-west pedestrian friendly connection, ultimately linking the Talbot Green to the open space north of the Moakley Medical Services Building.Client | Boston Medical Center
